Our mission

Pattle exists because ecommerce platforms made developers choose between power and sanity. The heavyweight platforms could model anything but buried teams in legacy; the hosted ones were pleasant but hit a wall the moment a merchant needed something real. We believe a commerce engine should be a well-factored framework — something you compose, extend, and actually enjoy working in.

And we believe the next decade of commerce won't only happen in browsers. Assistants and agents are already researching, comparing, and buying on behalf of their humans. Every part of Pattle — from the MCP server to agentic checkout — is built so merchants can treat that traffic as a first-class channel instead of an afterthought.

Meet the team

Forged in production.

Pattle is crafted by Workhouse, a team that has spent years building and operating ecommerce for real merchants.

Pattle didn't start as a product — it started as the framework we built for ourselves. After years of running merchant stores on platforms that fought us at every turn, we began extracting the pieces we kept rebuilding: catalog, carts, pricing, promotions, fulfilment. Module by module, tested and benchmarked, it grew into a complete commerce engine.

When AI assistants started showing up in our merchants' traffic, we realised the framework we'd built for developers was also the right foundation for agents: clean APIs, explicit permissions, and an audit trail for everything. So we open-sourced it. Today Pattle powers stores selling to humans, to agents, and to whatever arrives next.
